| Set up in 1992, the objectives of The Scottish Accountancy Research Trust (SART) are to promote research into accountancy, commercial law and related subjects and to operate a library, open to the public, for the teaching and study of those subjects.
As required by law, each year the Trustees publish a report containing the financial statements of SART. However, mindful of the public interest element to SART’s activities, the Trustees have decided to set up a website to promote even greater use of our library and make interested parties more aware of the research work that we support.
Transfer of SART assets and operations to SATER
At their meeting on 16 March 2005, the Trustees of the Scottish Accountancy Research Trust (SART) approved the transfer of SART's assets and liabilities over to the Scottish Accountancy Trust for Education and Research (SATER) with effect from 30 June 2005. This was subject to appropriate clearance which was received from the Inland Revenue and from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
SATER was established in 2003 with objectives similar to SART, although its Trust Deed is more flexible than that of SART and its objectives are more up to date. Consequently, it was agreed that SART should transfer its remaining assets to SATER and should then be wound up. SATER therefore took over the funding of academic research projects, initially out of the funds transferred from SART and subsequently from any donations from ICAS and other external donors. SATER also took over the operation of the SART Information Service, based at CA House.
A new SATER website is currently in development and will be live soon.
